Stress is the body’s response to a challenge or demand. It can be triggered by a range of things from small daily tasks to major challenges. Stress can have a major impact on your health so it’s important that you manage your stress levels every day. Here are some tips on improving stress and overall mental health in day-to-day life. 

Practice Self-Care

Self-care is different for everyone. Manage Stress Triggers

Most people’s lives are filled with too many demands with not enough time to fulfil them which can cause heaps of stress; and the majority of the time these demands are ones we’ve put on ourselves. By writing down the things that are causing you stress, you can prioritise and even remove or delegate some of the demands to help alleviate your stress. If some of these things can’t be removed, prioritised or delegated, try avoiding. For example, if the rush hour traffic is something that causes you significant stress, try setting off earlier to work. Or if it’s a certain person that causes you stress, try avoiding that person as much as you can and alter your schedule to run against theirs. By making small changes to your stress triggers, you may be able to significantly reduce your stress.

Taking time out to practice relaxation techniques every day can help manage stress and protect your body from the effects of it. Try techniques like deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, mindfulness and journaling to help manage your feelings. You can even get certain apps that can guide you through meditations and mindfulness techniques if you struggle alone.
