Window Tint Installation Process

Window tinting is a popular way to add privacy and reduce heat and glare in your vehicle. Installing window tint can be a DIY project, or you can have it professionally installed. In this blog post, we’ll go over the steps for installing ceramic window tint yourself, as well as some tips to make the process easier.

Step 1: Choose the Right Tint

Before you begin installing window tint, you’ll need to choose the right tint for your vehicle. There are several factors to consider when choosing a tint, including the amount of tint you want, the type of tint, and the cost. You should also consider local laws regarding the amount of tint that is legal on your vehicle. In general, you should choose a tint that is within the legal limits and provides the amount of privacy and protection that you need.

Step 2: Gather Your Tools and Supplies

Before you begin installing your tint, you’ll need to gather the following tools and supplies:

  • Window tint
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Razor blade or box cutter
  • Squeegee or plastic card
  • Scissors
  • Soap solution
  • Clean, lint-free cloth

Step 3: Clean Your Windows

Before you install your tint, you’ll need to clean your windows thoroughly. This will help ensure that the tint adheres properly and will prevent air bubbles from forming. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and soap solution to clean your windows, making sure to remove all dirt, dust, and debris.

Step 4: Measure Your Windows

Next, measure your windows to make sure that you have the right size of tint. Place the tint on the window and use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the length and width of the tint. Cut the tint to size using scissors, making sure to leave a little extra on each side to allow for trimming.

Step 5: Apply the Tint

Once you have the tint cut to size, you’ll need to apply it to your window. Start by misting the inside of the window with water, making sure to cover the entire surface. This will make it easier to move the tint into place. Place the tint on the inside of the window, making sure to center it and smooth out any bubbles.

Step 6: Trim the Tint

Once the tint is in place, use a razor blade or box cutter to trim the excess tint from the edges of the window. Be careful not to cut the tint too close to the edge, as this could cause the tint to peel.

Step 7: Squeegee Out Any Air Bubbles

Use a squeegee or plastic card to squeeze out any air bubbles that may have formed under the tint. Start at the center of the tint and work your way towards the edges, making sure to push out any bubbles. If you’re unable to remove a bubble, use a pin to poke a small hole in the tint and then use the squeegee to push out the air.

Step 8: Clean the Windows

Once you’ve removed all of the air bubbles, use a clean, lint-free cloth to clean the windows. This will remove any smudges or fingerprints and will help to ensure that the tint adheres properly.

Step 9: Allow the Tint to Dry

Allow the tint to dry for at least 24 hours before rolling down the windows. This will give the tint time to adhere properly and will prevent any damage to the tint.
